Breaking Rules to Break Records
Bad Bunny’s residency didn’t just sell out — it redefined what’s possible in high-demand ticketing. Working with vivenu, Ticketera® delivered Puerto Rico’s most complex, secure, and high-volume on-sale ever, setting a new industry benchmark.
The Challenge: Scale Meets Security
Selling over 400,000 tickets across 30 shows during the on-sale — while honoring the artist’s request that ticket sales for the first 9 performances be limited only to Puerto Rico residents — presented a unique operational and security challenge.
At the same time, the system had to withstand massive demand spikes and intense bot activity — all without compromising performance.
The Solution: Thinking Outside the (Digital) Box
Instead of relying on basic geo-filters, Ticketera® broke new ground with a hybrid approach — blending offline verification with digital control.
To fulfill the artist's request, a patent-pending access model was developed using offline activation — powered by vivenu’s infrastructure.

“We knew the solution had to be innovative and reliable. That led us to develop a model that involves in-person distribution, Puerto Rico residency validation, QR and promo code technology to deliver a secure, local, and efficient experience. This idea is currently patent pending at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).”

Scaling up
Individual approaches — completely out of the box. Thanks to deep local expertise and strategic planning, potential shortcomings were addressed long before the on-sale began.
Secure local access
To meet Bad Bunny’s request for local-only pre-access, vivenu and Ticketera® prioritized control and security. A hybrid model was implemented using in-person distribution and digital validation.
In just eight hours, over 21,000 physical cards with unique QR and promo codes were scanned across nine locations in Puerto Rico — after verifying each person’s residency. Only those who received a card were able to access the online sale. The result: More than 80,000 tickets sold within hours, generating over €11 million in revenue.
Scaling to online demand
For the remaining 21 shows, 2.3 million fans registered via OpenStage. 700,000 accounts were verified. 60,000 fans received a unique link and promo code. All 21 queues opened simultaneously, and over 250,000 tickets were processed within four hours.
Despite 1.8 million bot attacks — including 200,000 per minute from a single network — vivenu maintained sub-250ms response times throughout.
